Polyurethane – One Of The Biggest Scientific advancements In Home Insulation

What is spray foam? I’m sure you’ve heard of it somewhere. Spray foam, also known as Polyurethane foam is used in building structures, commercial areas, and even households. Polyurethane can come in two forms: liquid and solid form. The liquid form is sprayed onto the walls during the construction process. Spray foam application is cheaper but it is also considered by many to be less effective. If you’re looking to get your home insulated, there are many residential spray foam insulation services in Weatherford TX to choose from when deciding on which company to hire. Before you make this decision, you need to know a few important things about Polyurethane.

· What is polyurethane?

Polyurethane is a material used for the insulation of structures. It is used as an insulator because of the high thermal resistance and low conductivity of the gas present.

· The difference between spray and rigid foam.

The differences between rigid and spray foams are that spray polyurethane requires special equipment to install and the staff that operates this machine need to be properly trained before they can be allowed to handle any of the equipment. Rigid polyurethane is much easier to install as compared to spray foam. Rigid polyurethane simply molds to the surface of whatever it is applied upon.

· Which is easier to install.

Rigid polyurethane is much easier to install as it molds itself into the form to which it is applied. With rigid polyurethane foam, the chances of over-expansion are very low as it is already semi-hardened when it is applied so because of this it has no need to expand anymore to become rigid.

Spray polyurethane is a little more difficult to install as it will instantaneously adhere to the surface upon which it is applied and it will slowly harden and expand over time. This process can be very dangerous as the spray needs to be applied in very modest amounts or else the risk of over-expansion could very much become a reality. Over-expansion is dangerous as it can cause structural damage to wherever it is applied.

· The advantages of polyurethane insulation

The advantages of polyurethane insulation, in general, are that it will help in the significant decrease of heat in the summers and cold in the winters. The thick insulation can block both heat and cold from fully entering the house. Polyurethane can help save large amounts of money in your electrical bills as you won’t have to pay as much as before because your HVAC and AC systems will not require as much electricity to work. Polyurethane can also strengthen the walls to which it is applied and not only that but it also has a very long lifespan of 10 years and in some cases even more than that as long as the walls are recoated with more polyurethane. The biggest advantage of spray polyurethane is that spray polyurethane is much safer for the environment as it doesn’t contain CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons). Non-CFC foams are very eco-friendly and do not contain any formaldehyde which can damage the ozone layer.
